In the past they were picked by hand and canes and perches made the knocking down process easier. The almonds fell on a large pieces of canvas laying under the trees and then they were collected. Today the process is done mechanically, thanks to special umbrella-shaped shakers. So the almonds are ready for the hull-removal process, the drying process and further production steps.
